Type Locality and Naming

Along the Dzhamanjar stream, Central Kyzylkum. I.M.Abdurazimova, E.M.Shevtsova, 1987 (27, p.55). Stratotype in the upper reaches of the Dzhamanjar stream, on the south-eastern slope of Kuldyktau.

Synonym: Dzhamanyar Suite, Djamanyar, Джаманьярская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Littoral marine dark and greenish-gray clays with layers of sandstones, siltstone (aleurolites). Thickness 40-90m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Lies with erosion on the Kalaatin Fm

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Uzunkuduk-LCret Fm.

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, foothills of Kuldyktau, Auminzatau, and Bukantau. Analog of the upper Charsangin Fm sub-suite, Kallamazar Fm and two lower parts of the Luchak Fm (25; 28).

Contains marine bivalve mollusks - Nucula tagarensis Vinok., Corbula gaultina Pict. et Camp.; foraminifera - Evolutinella subevoluta Nikit. et Mjatl., Trochammina albica (Zhuk.), Gaudryinopsis oblongus (Zasp.); wood remains - Tempskya jatsenko-khmelevskii Shilk. et Chudajb., Taxodioxylon heteroradiatum Chudajb., Podocarpoxylon woburnense Stopes., Phyltocladoxylon gothanii (Stopes) Shim.; leaf remains - Asplenium dicksonianum Heer, Gleichenia cycadina (Schenk) Pryn., Matonidium goepperti (Schimp.) Schenk., Phlebopteris sp.; spores and pollen.
